The annual output of isostatic pressing graphite tripled to 15000 tons

SGL Group – the carbon company, the world's leading manufacturer of carbon graphite materials and related products, recently held the foundation laying ceremony of the new isostatic pressing graphite production center at its production base in Bonn, Germany. Juergen nimptsch, mayor of Bonn City, Annette schwolen flueman, mayor of badgersburg District of Bonn City, Victoria appelbe, spokesperson for economic development of Bonn City, and representatives of Sigrid group attended the ceremony. The construction of the new production center will officially start in September this year, and it is expected to be put into operation at the end of 2012.

Dr. GERD wingefeld, a member of the Management Committee of sigli group, said: "Investing in the construction of the new isostatic pressing graphite production center is another important commitment to the Bonn production base - we will continue to work to develop it into a high-end technology production base. As part of our long-term investment project, we will double the global production capacity, thus further consolidating the global leadership position of Sigri group in this high growth market."

In the next two years, sigli group will build an isostatic pressing graphite production center with an area of 3500 square meters in the Bonn base. The center will be equipped with first-class grinding and mixing equipment and a large isostatic press weighing 800 tons.

This world leading production project will help sigli group meet the growing demand of customers for large isostatic pressing graphite components. Therefore, in the next few years, the annual output of isostatic pressing graphite of sigli group will be expanded from the current 5000 tons to 15000 tons.

This investment of sigli group in the Bonn production base is one of the contents of the isostatic pressure graphite global value chain investment project. By 2012, the company will invest about 75 million euros to expand production capacity and promote technology research and development. In addition to increasing the production capacity of the Bonn production base, Sigri group will also invest in the construction of production bases in Yangquan, Shanxi Province (roasting and graphitization) and Shanghai (processing, purification and coating), which reflects its development strategy of promoting localized production and continues to consolidate the company's global technology leading position in emerging markets such as Asia.

Isostatic pressing graphite is an important material for the production of ultra pure polysilicon and monocrystalline silicon required by the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries. In addition, the production of light emitting diodes (LEDs) also requires graphite components.
